Frequently Asked Questions
We’ve gathered answers to the most common questions from parents and caregivers to help you feel confident, prepared, and informed. From appointment tips to care policies and everything in between, find what you need right here.
Q: What is the Neuro Crew A: The Neuro Crew is an interdisciplinary team designed to support children and families navigating neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and emotional challenges. Our team includes medical providers, mental health professionals, educational consultants, and specialists who work together to create a personalized, year-long care plan.
Q: How do families join the Neuro Crew A: Families are referred by a medical or educational provider within the Neuro Crew Team. Once the form is submitted, an initial meeting will be scheduled with a medical provider. Following this meeting, your child’s case is reviewed by the full interdisciplinary team to determine recommended services and next steps.
Q: What happens at the initial visit A: The initial visit includes the parent(s)/guardian(s) and child meeting with one of our medical providers. During this visit, the provider will gather medical and developmental history, review existing documentation, review and sign program documents, and potentially evaluate or schedule evaluations for your child. This information is then shared with the full Neuro Crew team to create a coordinated care plan.
Q: Is participation in services optional A: Once the Neuro Crew team determines that services are recommended and a care plan is developed, participation in the required services is a condition of enrollment in the Neuro Crew program. This typically includes: -4 mental health sessions (50 minutes each) -3 educational/parent coaching sessions (30 minutes each) Additional services and supports may be added based on family interest or team recommendation. All out-of-pocket services require payment due at the time of the session.
Q: How long does the care plan last A: Each care plan is designed to guide support for one full year. Families will have regular check-ins and updates, and additional services can be added at any time to meet changing needs.
Q: What if my child already receives outside services (e.g., therapy, special education, Education Consulting) A: We encourage collaboration! Please share relevant reports, evaluations, or IEP/504 plans with our team. Our goal is to coordinate—not duplicate—services and ensure consistent, informed support across all settings. Please note the minimum required sessions identified in your child’s comprehensive care plan will still apply. It is essential to have comprehensive input at our Neuro Crew Team Care Plan meetings.
Q: How much do services cost A: -Initial evaluations and medical visits are billed through insurance via Pediatric Wellness of NY. -Mental health sessions (4/sessions) are provided by Tara Cole Counseling Services at $50/session. -Educational and parenting sessions (3/sessions) are provided by Scolastico Educational Consulting Firm at $50/session. -Payment is due at the time of service. Families may be eligible for grant-supported financial assistance.
Q: Is financial assistance available A: Yes. A limited number of families may qualify for grant-funded support to cover required session costs. We will work with families to explore eligibility and offer additional discounted services through the Neuro Crew membership program.
Q: What kind of additional services are offered A: Families can opt into a variety of workshops and individualized support including: -Parent coaching -Behavior and sensory strategies -Mental health and wellness education -Nutrition and wellness guidance -Educational advocacy and IEP support *Additional cost may be required
Q: What’s expected from parents/caregivers A: We require all families to: -Participate in the required services as outlined in the care plan (4 mental health sessions and 3 educational/parenting sessions) -Pay for out-of-pocket services at the time of each appointment -Attend scheduled sessions and communicate in advance about any changes -Collaborate with our team by providing updates, sharing concerns, and asking questions -Be committed to reinforcing strategies and recommendations at home to support consistency and progress between sessions
